VLAN stands for Virtual Local Area Network. Traditionally, these are used to separate traffic between unrelated departments or units of a company. In this way, the sales team would not have access to information that the marketing team has.
This reduces unnecessary traffic on a network and improves its performance. Private VLAN's expand on this concept, by treating each VLAN as its own private network. Hardware like cabling, switches, and routers are shared, but the traffic flowing through these devices cannot be moved from one VLAN to another.
How do I know Organizations are Actually on their own Private VLAN?
Site staff can easily add a new Private VLAN as often as needed, such as when a new company moves into the space, by using the isofy dashboard.
Our software will automatically provision the new VLAN, and any users associated with that company will be placed into it. MAC authentication ensures that a user is placed into the correct VLAN, regardless of where they are physically located in the building.
