Wi-Fi Troubleshooting Tips

Here are some helpful troubleshooting steps we highly suggest if you are having Wi-Fi issues.

MAC Address Registration

First, if you have already registered your device’s MAC address and connected it to the correct network, it’s always a good first step to reboot your device.

Software Updates

Next, confirm your device doesn’t have any pending software updates. Sometimes software updates enhance the ability for your device to negotiate network connections and we want to make sure you’re running the latest software.

WiFi Basic Troubleshooting

If those steps don’t resolve your issue, sometimes it can help to forget the WiFi network and reconnect. Follow the steps below to do this:

  1. Go to your device's network settings.

  2. Select WiFi.

  3. Select the WiFi network at your site.

  4. Tap the gear or information icon to forget the network.

While you are in your Wi-Fi settings, we recommend that you disable “MAC address randomization”. If this is enabled, your MAC address may change, and in turn, require you to register it again.

Additionally, if you own an iPhone, you can also try disabling “limit IP address Tracking” to remove a layer between your device and the network.

Wired Basic Troubleshooting

If you’re using a hardwired connection and have already registered your MAC address, and followed the above steps, sometimes the issue is the ethernet cable you’re using. Try swapping the cable to ensure it’s not the issue.

If you’re using a USB WiFi or ethernet adapter, sometimes it helps to disconnect and reconnect these USB devices to your machine.

Finally, if you are utilizing a VPN or firewall it may be helpful to temporarily disable these features to confirm your standard network connection is working correctly.
