VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) are supported on our network, but they can occasionally degrade your speed and connection stability. If you are experiencing slow internet or lag while connected to your VPN, use this guide as part of your troubleshooting process.
isofy Supports VPN Usage
Our network infrastructure is configured to fully support VPN traffic. We do not block or interfere with standard VPN connections.
Steps for Troubleshooting Degraded VPN Performance
If your speed test results are significantly lower while your VPN is active, the slowdown is typically caused by the VPN itself.
Run a Test Without the VPN:
Action: Disconnect your device from the VPN and immediately run a speed test (e.g., speedtest.net).
Diagnosis: If speeds immediately improve, the degradation is confirmed to be caused by the VPN.
Verify VPN Settings and Server Load:
Action: Check your VPN client settings and try connecting to a different server location.
Reason: VPN performance depends entirely on the server you connect to. High traffic or long distances to the server will cause slowdowns and high latency (Ping).
Check Local Network Stability:
Action: Ensure your foundational internet connection is optimal.
Tips: If possible, switch from Wi-Fi to a wired Ethernet connection. If using Wi-Fi, move closer to the Access Point (AP).
Confirm Software Interference:
Action: Ensure your local device is not interfering with the connection.
Check: Temporarily disable local firewalls or antivirus software, and ensure Randomized MAC Address/Limit IP settings are disabled in your Wi-Fi settings.
If you have completed these steps and the performance issue persists even when disconnected from the VPN, please contact our support team with your test results.
