Adding Headless & IoT Device Access

Modified on Wed, 15 Oct at 12:18 PM

Devices without a web browser (like smart TVs, VoIP phones, printers, and voice assistants) cannot connect to the Wi-Fi using the standard captive portal login. These are referred to as Headless or IoT (Internet of Things) devices.

Staff must manually register these devices for the member.

Procedure for Device Registration

  1. Collect the MAC Address: Ask the member to provide the MAC address (also known as the Physical Address) of the device.

    • Note: This address is usually found in the device's settings menu (Network/About) or sometimes printed on the device itself.

  2. Check Unassigned Devices: First, check the list of Unassigned Devices in the Admin Dashboard.

    • If the device has recently attempted to connect to the network, its MAC address may already be listed there.

  3. Manual Registration: If the MAC address is not found in the Unassigned list, manually add the device to the system under the member's profile.

    • Ensure the device is placed on the correct network (e.g., Member or Corporate VLAN).

Once the MAC address is successfully registered, the device should connect automatically without needing a web browser or password.
